Few days later.

Wenesday evening, a Graffiti exhibition in the "Espace Des Blancs Manteaux". A stencil exhibition to be more precise. There is almost only the Old School, with Speedy Graffito, Fred Aerosol, Nemo for example and some others like L'Atlas…
To be honest, I'm a bit disappointed, that these urban artists are so disciplined, like they were afraid to use the space. Can this be true?
No excesses of painting at all!!!
But still good to see, for those you doesn't know it or for nostalgic people.

Thursday evening, it's time for Monica's concert at "La Péniche Antipode".
After a difficult start, Mo' Kalamity (her artist name) and "her Wizards" finally conquered the barge.
Their sound is more and more mature. Some tunes have a good heavy groove… almost sticky. Humm… I like it!!
And also and good choice of covers (You've Made Me So Very Happy, Black Roses) A real trip.
(special thanks to Mister Romain for the entrance fee)

Monica à la péniche Antipode

At last, the Cover Story's party yesterday evening.
With people dancing on wild tunes, and also a real live performance by K2O.
A great mood, some friends and loads of giggles…
Beside some hiccups in the organization, a good party again!!!

The best way to listen to Monica, is still to come to see her in concert. Tomorrow for example, at the Antipode barge : in front of n° 69, quai de Seine 75019 Paris.
Price : 7€.

Warm and sincere reggae roots… good stuff.

Old School

Today, for those who've been influenced by Hip Hop culture and also for the others. A book about the beginning of Hip Hop in New York, illustrated by the great pictures of Martha Cooper (some of you will remember her pictures in Subway Art).
But!!… Instead of writing a full description of this book, I'd rather like to show you some pictures.
Just to tease you…

You could find it, in good books shops and specialized Hip Hop shops.
For those who think this book is not enough, you could have some more with the movie Style Wars, wich takes place in the same period. There is also a lot of Picture of Martha in it.
Enjoy.

Way back

Futher to my return in Paris, I had the blues for few days, finally I'm coming back from this lethargy.
(This classical process, get worse with this shitty weather)
I'm also back on the Maraudeur.blog with some new things : an English version, and in the Links, a review of the past playlists from the radioblog. And some more new stuff coming soon.
There is also an enter page for the Maraudeur.blog at : Maraudeur's Choice

Don't forget that you can give your opinion or ask questions about the Maraudeur.blog, in the comments…
